I have three steam locos with sound that are having major issues.
1. Proto 2-8-4 sounds all work but engine won't move an inch
2. Spectrum 2-8-0 same as above
3. Spectrum shay everything works but it won't chuff rest of the sounds work.

In order to guess, we need to know what brand and type decoders you are using.

The spectrum have tsunamis
The proto has a qsi

With the Proto engine, push "f6" several times, and make sure cv19 is set to 0.
The spectrum 2-8-0 may have a motor brush problem, you will probably have to remove the boiler and the brush caps, stretch the brush springs out a little, then put it back together.
The shay may have an issue with the chuff rate. The higher the number, the slower the chuff.

First thing to try with any of these is a factory reset to default settings.
