I have a Digitrax system with a programming track that is a stub track at the end of a yard. I’d like to use a DPDT switch to be able switch the track from programming to operations, basically so I can drive my engines back onto the layout once I’m done. Digitrax shows wiring a DPDT switch to do this at: www.digitrax.com/tsd/KB71/dpdt-double-pole-double-throw-electrical-switch/What I’d like to do is also have a visual indicator such as a light, that would let me know when the track is in program vs ops mode. There doesn’t really seem to be a good way to do this with a single DPDT switch, so what would I need? Is there such a thing as a “double” DPDT switch?

Could just have the LED on the programming legs of the switch. Open circuit = LED off, throw the switch and LED comes on

Exactly, you can swap the pieces / parts around to indicate when power is applied to the programing side only.

That is exactly what I'm looking for. I knew there had to be a solution out there. Thanks.

I purchased one and spent the weekend working on getting it installed. It's basically like two DPDT switches smashed together, so wiring wasn't as tricky as I thought. The surprising thing was just how big the switch was!

The surprising thing was just how big the switch was! You must have gotten a heavy duty variety ? The mini versions are only 0.9" x 0.5" x 1.4"(L*W*H) with a 1/4" shaft. www.amazon.ca/Uxcell-Position-4PDT-Toggle-Switch/dp/B016VQZSGMMark.
