A few years ago, I picked up a 3-packer of the Atlas Trainman hoppers for a whopping $30. Probably didn't need 3, but here is one after some decal work, and weathering to bring it up to the early 80s: Nevermind the non-Kadee couplers, and the trucks. The real cars rode on 70 ton roller bearing trucks with 5 springs. To use anything other than the Atlas truck requires bolster modifications that I'm on the fence about deciding it being "worth it" on just a Trainmen line car. So for now, I just weathered the trucks like the rest of the car. Here is another car from the 3-pack, un touched. This is what I started with: I should probably mention that I do not own an airbrush. The weathering was a mixture of Polly Scale roof brown, Grimy Black, plus Burnt Sienna oil paint. This was, of course after adding re-weigh data, wheel dot, lube stencil, and ACI label. Thanks 'fer looking.

great looking car. Do you just brush paint the patches and add new data?

Thanks. The patches are made from Microscale black trim-film. The two most useful colors I've found to be have been black and caboose red.
