Hi guys,
I repurposed an old Tsunami 1 NT 645 decoder in my son's Athearn SW1500. (Close enough for now) There are no markings on the decoder, but I believe it to be a GN1000. It has an SMD LED roof top beacon run off of function 6, but it is too bright. I've been through the manual and can't find a way to dim the LED with programming. Is this possible on the older Tsunami, or do I need to do it with resistors? If I do need to switch resistors, any recommendations? I believe I have a 1k in it now.
Thanks.

I can't speak to your exact situation but I have found on non-sound decoders (various makes) that yes you do need to dim the beacon. I have been using 0402 LED in the beacons and have used either a 3.3K or 4.3K resistor.

I know it's possible to change the lighting voltage on the tsunami 2, but I can't figure out how on this old decoder. I'll pick up some of those resistors if I can't figure it out.

The Tsu-1 has no provision for dimming lights. Go with the resistors.

Tsunami does have dimming functions for the headlights. Depending on how important Rule 17 is to you, the lead for the headlight could be used for the beacon.
