Hello Crew , I've had my imgur account for 3 or so years. I liked how easy it was to uses. Then, I think, last year some type of upgrade occurred that has left me puzzled. Now whenever I resize or edit a photo; I see no icon, symbol, or wording that shows where to save the changes. It's frustrating. I shrank the photo below, but as you can see the larger space that it occupied is still there. That's why on the Kato-Atlas GP7 threadd there is so much space between the 2 photos I posted. I would appreciate some pointers. - Thank you

Their online editor is very buggy since they were purchased by a different company. I would do your editing / cropping / sizing offline (Windows / Mac based) and upload your final product. Also no real need to resize images going to Imgur that you're linking here. Proboards will size the photo to fit the user's screen.

Thank you Jonklein611, But one of the reasons that I relied on Imgur's previous photo editing feature is that there were times when I would link my photos from imgur to this forum and the photos would appear HUGE on my posts. Some members here might remember the photos I posted of prototype Amtrak P30CH's.....each taking up 1/3 of a page! When incidents like that occurred, I would go back to Imgur and quickly shrink them there, approximately 300% to 500%.. I normally take photos with either a cell phone or digital camera and upload them to a flash drive where they're automatically saved as JPEGs or BMP (whatever that is). I don't know how to make them smaller. Their online editor is very buggy since they were purchased by a different company. Example of what happens when I post a photo. I don't want it to be this large. Preferable for it to be 1/2 to 1/3 this size; especially if I'm posting multiple shots. I'm also trying to be considerate and not hog this forum's bandwidth.

FYI the photo you linked shows up as only taking up 1/4 of the screen for me.

Test this out. I linked some photos in a thread see here: atlasrescueforum.proboards.com/post/183540The linked images are full size from my phone, uploaded to imgur. This forum resizes the photos to fit the browser window size. If I fullscreen my browser window, the image fills the page. If I shrink the browser window, the images also adjust.

Here's a test. If it sucks all you'll see will be text after editing. I've always photoshopped balance and defects and then resized photos before uploading to imgur. Here's one that hasn't been photoshopped and was uploaded in its 4608 x 2992 5.15 MB totalness. Indeed, as jonklein suggested, proboards resized the photo to fit the window that I use. As for bandwidth. Not so simple. Atlas Rescue is not affected by the size of a linked photograph. But it might be an issue for some end users who are still n dial-up or using a metered cell phone plan. I'm sitting here with a 1GB service and a very high monthly bandwidth quota. So, I don't think about other end users anymore. I realize that I should. Interesting - I downloaded the photo and the result was 4608 x 2592 x 1.10MB. Interesting 2 - I maxed my browser for my 38" monitor and proboards followed right along.

That's part of the reason for the difference in file size.

It used to be I could chose size when posting a live link, but now I don't see that option anymore.

you can still choose the size you want the image to be. It's in the menu where you get the image link that gets pasted on the forum, and there are several size options to choose from. When you click on them it changes the link to whichever is appropriate for the given size.

Along with the "Share Options" box, the junk on the left side is what I see. It's a bit frustrating as Imgur's previous version seemed so user friendly. But I realize, with regards to an earlier post, it is under new ownership.

that is not at all the page I was referring to. Is that even Imgur? Assuming it is, and that is some kind of weird page I have never seen before - What I was talking about is when you go to your image gallery and click on one, this type of window pops up:
If you don't want the picture to appear full size when you post it on the forum, you just click on one of the other sizes there at the bottom right. That will change the Direct Link and when you copy that to your forum post, the image will appear the desired size.
No editing of the picture itself needed at all.

Here is that image above, posted in several different sizes:
All I did was just choose different sizes in that menu. The top is the original, followed by large, medium, and small.
I never had to change the original image in any way.

Cemr5396 Thank you for the home run!
Also, thank you to the other modelers here that tried to help me. I've found the issue (in addition to my warped brain) .
Whenever I've posted photos to forums, I did not go to the "Image Gallery"; I always went to my "Posts" where my photos are grouped into categories that I created (locomotives, passenger cars, etc). I'd click on a photo and a small version of the "Copy Link" box would pop up. One of the options under it was "Edit Image". With the update the "Edit Image" selection no longer displayed the "Save Changes" feature; which is where I became stumped. As I tried to edit any photo, that weird page with various images that were not mine would pop up. Yes, it is still imgur.
All this time and I had no idea that there was another way to do this.
I see that in going to the Gallery ALL of my photos show up together, spread over several pages. However, the option of arranging them in "Time Uploaded" and "Ascending" /"Descending" order makes finding specific shots easy.
Again thank you all very much!
