Those Blomberg's on the ATSF samples make me want to cry tears of sadness. Something funky with the spring pack/brow casting big time.

Wish we could get a deadline for the C30-7s and get them moving.

Wish we could get a deadline for the C30-7s and get them moving. Give it about another year, they should be ready to make them by then. (only partially joking)

June Order Deadline Spotlight: - HO Scale GP38 Locomotive - NEW VIDEO!
July Order Deadlines - July 17th, 2023 - HO Scale MLW M420 Locomotive - BC Rail and P&W Versions
All of the GP38s except the ATSF unit are artist's concepts, not photos. Thus no better than a list of roadnames. Some people mistakenly think these renderings represent what you're going to get.
Daylight visible under the M-420 cab. The numberboards are so narrow, due in part to the oversize gasket, that numbers will have to be squished or? Prototype www.railpictures.net/photo/756826/

Is the ATSF pictured above a production sample or a hand-painted demo? That is one fuzzy line between the yellow and blue on the bonnet. Also, I can see at least 3 different shades of yellow.

The video of the GP38s state that they are hand painted and not the production models. Boy those handrails look very straight and vertical on the renderings......

As it's being used for marketing purposes, a hand-painted (hopefully airbrushed) sample should look better than production models since a single person is in complete control of the sample model. He can touch-up paint, etc.
Thus it's a marketing sample.

Number font doesn't quite look right on the Conrail and PC units. I'd have to look at some photos and compare to be sure.

It's also amazing that the horns continue to look so bad, even in the renderings. What on earth is that RS3L?

What's the thingy sticking up above the cab roof next to the front cab door on the B&O and CSX units?

If it's a firecracker antenna it should not be in line with the front wall of the cab and it should have a smaller diameter section at the bottom. that's probably an illusion because of the angle. Most likely it is further back on the cab roof somewhere and only the top is visible.

Thus it's a marketing sample. I see it differently. The factory uses metal paint masks that are CNC-machined to fit precisely against the shell for crisp separation lines. Since there's no adhesive involved, they can instantly remove the mask without disturbing the fresh paint. No matter how neatly you cut and apply masking tape, it's still a soft and porous material that might allow some bleed-through, or cause minute lifting and fuzziness when you peel it off. Also, I suspect that for markings, they can achieve finer resolution on a laser-engraved pad printing plate than even the finest screen printed decals. It's the nature of the process, more so than the skill of the painter.

Sorry to say the handrails alone are very very off-putting for me, on the Santa Fe units but also on the M420.
As my son is getting interested in CN I was sorta considering an M420, but the photos of any I've seen available reflect handrails that are just not good.
I experienced numerous handrail issues with the first run RS-11's, and unfortunately things are no different with these models.
The advertised "arrow straight" handrails are just not.
Someone above commented upon what appears to be 3 different shades of ATSF yellow. All I can say is oh no not again!!!! I have TWO B36-7's in the Kodachrome paint that are 3 different shades of ATSF yellow, and the red color is also just plain wrong--way off from other manufacturers' Kodachrome units, and off from prototype photos. Not even close. Those 2 units have been out on consignment for more than a year; I practically speaking cannot give them away.
