Yes, Chris is a great friend, and an equally talented modeler. He brings a wealth of knowledge and information to Intermountain that should definitely enhance the quality of their models! Bravo ChrisP!!!

being able to always land on one's feet is a talent all of its own, he seems to have that in spades.
Good for both him and IMRC.

It seems like it's near the three-year anniversary of Chris leaving Athearn. I wonder if some kind of non-compete agreement kept him out of the manufacturing world until now?
In any event, I'm glad to see he has landed at Intermountain.

I enjoyed working with Chris to design several CSX and the Cryo-Trans decals sets when he was at Microscale. I wish him and Intermountain all the best!

Obviously they are bringing Chris in to get the GP16 project back on schedule. Or the ACF 2927 which I have on pre-order since 2018. Rick Jesionowski

What is happening at Athearn/Horizon? Customer Service seem to be decline compared to years ago.

Intermountain has their own issues. Having lots of RR prototype knowledge is good, but can we get parts that actually fit together correctly? It's very disappointing that the recent PS-1 underframes are short by about 1mm causing incorrect fit- and these were made in the World's Premiere model train making country. What's the root cause?

I have never had anything other than excellent customer service from Athearn.
why is it everytime people move around, everyone has to be all like "there must be something happening at (insert company here)"? People change jobs all the time, why do we have to be wierd about it?

I agree with Brad.
I have never had less than excellent customer service from Athearn.
Right now, this week, they have bent over backwards to help me. I had received an ICG GP38-2 brand new from a dealer, but with minor handrail damage. I offered to buy a complete set of handrails--but they (the orange ones) are apparently gone now. However I got an email from their service rep the very same day--literally a few hours after my initial contact to them--They had a partial handrail set including what I need and are sending it to me free of charge (I did buy other parts from them recently).
I am extremely thankful for Athearn's customer service. They have been very fast and I always get the correct part. There is no possible way Athearn's customer service could outperform what they are already doing for me.

What is happening at Athearn/Horizon? Customer Service seem to be decline compared to years ago. I agree, the problem in my opinion is they hired a yes man brand manager who will just roll over to the will of management. Horizon management is not very model train centric. As for Intermountain, good lets hope Chris does amazing work at Intermountain like he did at Athearn. I hear he was responsible for prime for grime and a bunch of other improvements during his time there. He was a bit more assertive to upper management than the current brand manager. At Intermountain if he can get the ball rolling again on product releases he will bring them back to a powerhouse in this hobby.

Maybe he can get them to release the Gunderson Twin Stacks again. Time for a major upgrade of this car. From the mid 80s to the present day these things are a staple of intermodal operations.

On the Intermountain web site there is "Taking Reservations" and "Need Reservations" status used. That looks like Reservation Drama. What's it feel like?

Actually the Scaletrains boys had to wait before they could debut their company until their non-competes were done. Dave
