My time to start it off: A couple of weeks ago I posted photos of my PRR F41 flatcar built using a Plate C Model Prototypes 3D Printed kit and lettered with Mt Vernon decals. I realized I need a load for it and remembered that I had a Walthers Wheel Loader kit that I had assembled years ago. I made blocking for the load using 3x6 strip wood based on a prototype photo of a similar load. The wheel loader is removable so the car can run empty but with the blocking still place. The deck on the flatcar was weathered using India Ink diluted in isopropyl alcohol and I used the same on the blocking but diluted it more so the blocking looks newer than the deck. Happy 4th everyone!

I spent the weekend working on this Genesis GP18. The Rock Island paint schemes Athearn chose didn't really excite me, so I picked up the solid maroon 1348, striped the factory lettering, and painted the ends yellow. I then printed some new decals for the speed lettering, number boards, cab numbers and herald. It has been sealed in semi gloss, and once I attain the correct foot boards to replace the snow plows the model came with, I'll weather it.

great job on the GP18!
I have done similar stuff to several models before, take a model that is close to what I want and re letter it.
I've added Multimarks to non-Multimark Bowser CP SD40-2s, removed the Golden Beaver from a Genesis CP GP38-2 to update it into the 2012+ paint scheme, and many more.

It's a fun way to quickly get a unique model without doing a full blown build.

While not as cool as your Rock Island GP18, I took a pair of first run Bowser BN C636's, stripped the lettering and relettered them with the correct sized lettering from a Microscale decal sheet. Lee English was impressed enough he corrected the second run of BN Alcos.
