One of the best aspects of my job is that for 3 of my 5 work days I get to ride Sound Transit's Sounder into downtown Seattle from Kent, WA., the trip takes about 22 minutes and there's just one quick stop in Tukwila along the way. For most of the trip track is rated at 73 or 79mph for transit equipment, Amtrak a bit less at 63 and the BNSF at 50, the route is generally north south with mostly sweeping curves except at Argo and Coach Wye. I'll try to add a few pics as the chances allow Power is Sound Transit's fleet of F59s and MP36s, locomotives always face south regardless of which direction the train is actually travelling. Along the way you pass the Intermodal yard at South Seattle, these are the remote units assigned there, good to see a GP-30! Okay, I'm not Blair Kooistra, can't take a great pic to save my heine, at the south end of Boeing Field is Norfolk St yard at which lots of locomotives gather, units from CN, CP, UP, NS, KCS, Ferromex, CSX are all commonthough this moring it's an all BNSF show. Still see silver units often, occasionally the old cream and dark green ones too. Amtrak does all of Sound Transit's work, they have a large facility just to the south of King Street Station and Seattle's sports stadiums.....
