I was looking at the recent run of Atlas GP40's and I looked and looked and could not find any reference to who supplies the DCC/Sound decoders for the current run of Atlas GP40's. It's like the didn't seem to list the brand. Is it life or Memorex. I think I remember Atlas has switched to ESU Loksound decoders, perhaps OEM. But heck if I can find any reference to the manufacturer! Is it a big secret or am I just missing it? All the features are listed but nary a mention of Soundtrax, ESU or whatever.

I assume everything now from Atlas is equipped with ESU.

My Atlas SD24, U28C, and C-424 all had LokSound 5 so it seems like that's the standard with Atlas now.

That's what I figured but it seems odd they did name the maker

I also noticed that Atlas still markets having an 8-pin plug for silver series when they have been 21-pin for a long time.

What's the difference between a LokSound Select Dual-Mode and LokSound 5? I can't find LokSound Select anywhere on ESU's website.

The Loksound Select has been discontinued before the introduction of the Loksound 4. The Loksound 5 is the current version, make sure if you purchase a Loksound 5 that it is the DCC version as it has the NMRA standard for speed curves not found in the DCC/Multi protocol decoders. The multi protocol decoders use the European multiplier for speed curves and not the multiplier used by other manufacturers like Digitrax, TCS and NCE.
