Since we're back in an apartment, decided to play around with the the Arduino DCC EX command station. Wanted a different throttle, used the WiThrottle, then engine driver, and decided to give the UWT-50 from TCS a try. I will admit, I had my doubts about the throttle, but after getting it, and using it, this thing is impressive. I really like the fact, when paired with JMRI, the full locomotive address appears on the screen, (i.e. FXE 4636) rather than just the locomotive number. I also like the programmable buttons. It is light, easy to hold, and well balanced. Which brings me to my next question; has anybody tried the TCS command station?

I have the command station. I replaced a Digitrax DCS51 and PR3 with it on a 4x8 layout, and I don't have any complaints. It does what I need it to do. It hasn't given me any trouble. Consisting with the CS-105 and UWT-100 is very nice. I have JMRI running on a PC, and because it has wifi, I don't need the PC plugged into the layout via some sort of device, I just point JMRI to the IP address of the CS-105 and they're happy to talk to one another via LCC. Because it's LCC and not WiThrottle, it means I lose out on the locomotive information (at least I think I do), but it all works well together. I can control an engine via WiThrottle, and have the speed reflect on the throttle, and vice versa. It's nice to have as an LCC node, although I'm not certain that it gives me anything that LocoNet doesn't, but because I went with an LCC signaling system, it means I guess I could make all of the signals flash red if it detects a short circuit or something.
Eventually, when the LCC based phone throttles come out, it has a zero-config networking broadcast, so it's really easy to locate on the network and connect to.
Let me know if you have any questions, I'll try and answer them.

Thank you for the information. Right now my "layout" consists of a four foot folding table, and some Kato track, but looking to the future.

for my money the UWT-100 is the best throttle on the market right now

The reason I went with the UWT-50, according to the DCC-EX website, that was the only one they had tested. Maybe next train show, I'll try and pick up a UWT-100, and give it a try.

I have an arduino, motor shield, and I think a wifi shield somewhere. I'll try to put together the base station this week and test it with my UWT-100 for you.
