I got a new computer and when I tried logging in, I could not remember my password. Unfortunately, the email address linked to my old account is no longer a valid email, so I was unable to reset my password. I am hoping that there is some way that the forum can allow me to reset the password for my existing ValenciaJim account as I have been a member of this forum since its inception and I would like to continue using my existing account.

One other point. My older computer crashed and I cannot retrieve my password by using it.

From what I was able to find, you will need access to your previous email account to retrieve your forgotten password. Is the service host down?

Donnell, do you have access to the forum’s database? Updating the email address there should be no problem.

Donnell, do you have access to the forum’s database? Updating the email address there should be no problem. It's a hosted service. Apparently an admin can't change a member's email address -- which makes sense; how can the admin be sure that person Y claiming to be person X is indeed the same person?

Unfortunately I cannot access or change any of his personal data. I can see his original email address, but I cannot make any updates to his account. He will have to access his original email account to reset his password, which he mentioned is no longer valid.

The best I can do is try to see if there is a way that I can combine the two accounts somehow. Let me keep looking into it.

Donnell What I saw that it is possible for you to delete his old account, and then he can make a new account with the same username. He won't be able to edit his old posts and his post count will start from zero. So it's effectively the same situation as he has now, but his new account would have the same name as the old one, rather than having a "2" appended as now. I see very little advantage to this.

Hello Colin, This seems to be the best resolution as my hands are pretty much tied as far as editing members' personal data.
Hi Jim, what would you like to do from this point forward?

Donnell-
Thanks for your efforts. Apparently, the email address I used when the forum first started was my work email address. When I retired 8 years ago, my former company shut down my email account and gave me a new email for retired partners with a new domain name. I guess I will just have to start over unless I can somehow remember my password. Thanks again for all of your efforts.

You can't get them to temporarily forward email to your old address to you?

You can't get them to temporarily forward email to your old address to you? Nope. I worked for a Big 4 accounting firm that is obsessed with email security. They made it abundantly clear that 90 days after my retirement, the email would be permanently shut down. Shortly after I retired, their email system was hacked by Russian hackers. After that email security increased by quantum leaps. They really do not care about my problem. I am going to try to see if I can figure out what the password was. I have to remember what forms of passwords I used when I set up my old forum name and see if I can guess what it was.
