I got my shipping notice on Monday. Models arrived today, N&W, RI and ATSF.
The 8 door Detroit Shoreline and ATSF are sold out and the 4 door N&W, Rock Island also sold out.

Received mine last night. They all look really good, very nicely detailed, and no loose parts. Only defect I noticed was a small paint blemish on both sides of the N&W car.

Got an email about them being in stock, still no photos. I'm not buying anything based purely on videos. Would like to be able to actually see the cars to know how they are as a starting point. Definitely can tell from videos that the crossover platforms would need pulled off and re-bent. Truck artwork looked very goofy so it'd be nice to know how they really are.

Received my 2 cars on Sunday. They were shipped using UPS but arrived at my house via USPS. First time buying a Class One model and overall pleased with them. Will add much needed variety to my auto parts fleet. My only minor complaint really is that their packing isn't all that great. Models were on the bottom of the box and crumpled brown paper on top. If it was me, I would prefer packing peanuts and a layer of them on the bottom as well as on the top. Thankfully they arrived undamaged. Foam peanuts are banned in multiple states and there is a push for a national ban. I have a bag of them yet and haven't used them because I'd have to check to see where I could even send them.

Damm Shipping Foam peanuts & PB&J all proposed to be banned (along with my gas grill)..even plastic bubble wrap. Biodegradable Seaweed is now becoming a valid shipping alternative to plastic wrap....“agar plasticity”. Sorry Publix!! Now I'll pass on your seaweed Cal Sushi wraps!!!

I've been using wadded up newspapers as packing material for over half a century (and my parents before me!). For MOST items, it works fine.
Now, when I shipped my ZW transformer, peanuts saved the day big time.
As someone once said: "There's a time and a place...."

Meanwhile, the Scaletrains Thrall 86' releases have been delayed to December, 2024 or January, 2025.

I've been receiving crumpled brown paper in all my packages lately and crumpled brown paper with a little bubble wrap for brass hybrids.
I prefer the styrofoam peanuts...but they are on the way out. Trainz in particular doesn't want to pay to dispose of them. They are in Georgia, and apparently cannot or do not use them to ship items out. Their fine print actually says do not use them to send models to them.
Finally got my invoice and paid for my two N&W boxcars, so we'll see what they look like.

Waiting for some real time eyes-on feedback before I take the plunge....... Hopefully have some guinea pigs chirping up soon. That's an excellent way to miss out, do you think there's some vast conspiracy and cover up of the information that is already out there? You do know you can return things within 40 days of shipping? Good lord.

So the mere suggestion that I would like to see a pic of the product before buying is suggestive on my part of a "conspiracy"? So the mere suggestion that I would like to see a pic of the product before buying is suggestive on my part of a "conspiracy"? That's been settled. Now we have to figure out WHY you're part of a conspiracy, and just how far it extends. Are you, for example, also trying to bring back deep flanges? Answer yes or no!!!!! How many OTHERS also hold these beliefs? We want NAMES, sir!!!! Ed

Good lord. No its a suggestion that you are buying into some sort of conspiracy. Like the company or other pictures and videos are inaccurate. There's videos, reports and photos everywhere. There have been for some weeks including here on this thread BEFORE your comment saying you need more information. Did you miss all that? Your loss, I stocked up on these they are great. The N&W and Rock Island versions I ordered are already sold out. Some you still have time on still.

It's true, with some models if you wait so long as to get the look you want, they may be gone. Your decision.

I just saw a video in this thread that I failed to see earlier, so I guess for my oversight I deservedly will be an accomplice to a great conspiracy! Imagine if I suggested buying, for example, a Rapido product without seeing a pic..... If I recall there was a great deal of consternation in these hallowed halls relevant to the warped flat car deck....so how dare I ask to see a pic! Either way, on the valued advice of those here I ordered what I wanted and they look great in the vids. "Good lord"..... X2F over and out

Any chance we could see some pics of the models on layouts? Some of us are just curious.

If I recall there was a great deal of consternation in these hallowed halls relevant to the warped flat car deck....so how dare I ask to see a pic! In my experience, I've noticed a higher incidence of bowing or warping with flat cars. Mostly those longer than 53' scale feet. I've been pulling out my 89' TOFC flat cars to get them layout ready and install Kadees, such as my Walthers RTR TTX cars and some were bowed or warped. Some I could gently straighten, but about 3 seem to be beyond my ability. I've had similar problems with a few 60' Athearn bulkhead flats. My point is flat cars seem to be more prone to warping and bowing. It was a problem with some flatcars under Autoracks to if you remember. I didn't buy any ClassOne flat cars but wasn't surprise and it seemed they could be tweaked to fix the issue that, once again seem fairly common to that type of model.

Not a conspiracy but completely ludicrous that Class One Modelworks doesn't post photos of the actual models you're buying. Virtually all other manufacturers post photos of the real models once they've been made. And for me living in Sweden buying sight unseen isn't an option. Shipping and import duties make it extremely costly to return an item.

Yup. If you don't see a picture here, it must be perfect.
Sort of the reverse of the Al Kalmbach philosophy of model review.

I was at a train show recently and a guy had quite a few athearn RTR 85' TOFC flats from 10-15 years ago for cheap which immediately caught my eye. every single one of them had a nasty warp to them.

It's a mixed bag with flat cars. I pulled out one of my RTR 85 Atlas F85B flat cars and fortunately it was pretty straight.

I figure the Athearn 85' flat uses the same sheet steel weight as it did half a century ago.
And I figure if the weight is bent, the car is bent.
Might want to straighten the weight and see.
On the one I worked on (half a century ago), I replaced the centersill with a square brass bar--1/4", I think. The car is pretty much straight and unbendable, now. And nicely weighted.

Thanks for the photos. It looks like one of the crossover platforms is upside down, based on the end-shape. And the eyelets for the crossover grab look WAY too big. Not too bad, but the lettering is a DISASTER. It is REALLY REALLY poorly done. Compare model pix with below: www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1020964Class One is using up their lives. This is not good. Ed

Hopefully I don't screw up the linking of my images... I purchased all three numbers of the GTW "four door" cars. To my eye they look pretty good, but I haven't compared them to photos. The fit and finish are very nice. The lettering is crisp, even if it doesn't show in my cell phone pictures. I thought this was going to be a gripe... the air hose passes right over the top of the coupler screw. However, I was able to replace the couplers on all three of my cars without incident. The hose has just enough bend in it to allow a screwdriver to nudge it aside. The cut lever also stayed attached as I maneuvered the coupler box to remove the Kadee clone and install 158s. These images aren't showing up for me. Deep-linking images hosted on Facebook might work at first, but usually breaks very quickly.

I'm sure the cars were repainted at least once in their lives, so let's not go Rapido on them, Edward.
