Was Tony Koester's advertised book on Allen McClelland's V&O ever published? It hasn't turned up in local stores and I have not seen a review or any kind of online discussion. My first thought was that 112 pages wasn't enough space to do it justice. kalmbachhobbystore.com/product/book/12844

Yes. I have seen it in several stores, and have a copy.

I have a copy. it is a nice book, and a fitting tribute to an outstanding modeler and a wonderful person. But I thought the original book published by Carstens many decades ago was better.

Carsten's book is on my shelf, a well worn reference to my railroad modeling. Imitated but not equaled. Not even close...

Thanks for the comments. If K'bach can get a copy here, I'll find out for myself.
9/12: To answer my own question, Kalmbach's V&O book doesn't cover operation details in depth as was done in Carstens' earlier volume, but it does offer a lot on insight into the how and why of the V&O and brings the V&O story up to date. Several photos are new to me, at least.

I'll have mine tomorrow...
Decent book after perusing it. A bit of Koester flavor added, just sayin', not opining... compliments the Carstens book. Both books are well done. I prefer the original Carstens’ because it was my first taste of the substantial matter on my then totally blank slate. The current book has refinements on what is now acquired knowledge with some more information on the evolutionary changes over the years.. What I seem to miss is really any information on the methods of operation used in the “business “ of the V&O as a railroad.
