Last month I purchased the September magazine for $7.99. Today, I purchased the October issue and didn’t pay any attention to the price. After I got home and sat down to read, I saw the price…$10.99! It’s a good magazine, just not at that price. I guess I’ve purchased my last print model railroad magazine.
I only buy the issues that look interesting, so I don’t have a subscription. Maybe I will now, but $3.00 more in one month? Makes me not want the magazine!

Yeah, It just happened. Guy at my LHS was commenting on it as well, that's a pretty healthy price jump for a magazine..

I'm glad I have a subscription. I wonder what the price increase will be next time to renew.
Almost everything in the USofA is going up, and fast. Especially food. $3.49 for a 7-ounce milk at Carl's Jr / Hardee's (declined).

My RMC renewal this summer was $54.95 for a year, considerably less that buying 12 issues individually. I would guess the increase came from postage and paper costs. Multi-year subscriptions were not offered in the renewal letter I received.

RMC has been better under white river and otto as editor, but the last few issues i picked up were kinda bleh. I wish they had an operations guy under their umbrella, that's one thing Jerry Dziedzic does a great job of with in MR every month.

This increase is not surprising. My subscriptions to the Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal have gone through the roof.
I really enjoy RMC, but I would not pay the newsstand price for it.

I was in Office Depot today and I noticed the price of paper has really escalated. I usually buy their brand of paper in a box containing ten reams. About 18 months ago, that box sold for about $33. Last April when I purchased my last box, the price was $53. Today the price was an astonishing $88. Needless to say, I will be looking elsewhere for paper, but if those prices are illustrative of the cost of paper for magazines, that could easily explain the RMC price increase.
The LHS that I most frequently no longer sells RMC because they say nobody buys it.
