With the late summer 2024 release of both the ScaleTrains and ClassOneModelworks Thrall hi cube 86' box cars, I would ask this forum which version is the more accurate for the 9 Thrall Ann Arbor boxcars leased from the GBW? And also, are there any undec versions in the planned release? I have equipment diagrams in front of me but I can't tell from the model announcements.
I know that eventually (hopefully!), Tangent will release the 3 Greenville hi cubes (69001, 69002 and 69007).
Thanks.

Tangent already released the Greenville-built Ann Arbor Hi Cubes in 4 road numbers, along with the ex-Ann Arbor patched Indiana Hi Rail version, and the ex-Indiana Hi Rail Mississippi Delta Railway patched version.
The neat multiple patch painted cars sold out immediately, and I had to get one Mississippi Delta version from Credit Valley Railway in Canada in order to get one at all, after looking everywhere for them.
Good luck.
I have the book which details all the surviving hi cube boxcars well into the 2000's, and it is pretty clear that Ann Arbor had more than 4 Greenville-built cars, as most of them were still in service at that late date. They were the LAST Greenville built hi-cube boxcars, in late 1979.

According to the Thrall 86' roster that I have, the Thrall high cubes that the Ann Arbor got from the GBW came from two different lots. GBW 100-102 (AA 69000, 69012) were "type 1" cars. This is the initial ScaleTrains Rivet Counter model. Not sure if the running board and brake wheel were original by the time AA got ahold of them, but no worries. The new ScaleTrains announcement includes "type 1" cars that have the brake wheel lowered and the running board removed. The others, GBW 106-113 (AA 69003-69006/69008-69011), are "type 3" cars which nobody has offered yet. The new run from ScaleTrains includes some "type 3" cars, the C&O/Chessie System and ATSF cars, which had 9 welded panels on either side of the door instead of ten. I believe that Class One has said they will also eventually offer all the body styles of the Thrall cars at some point. So, you will either have to paint your own, or you might have to wait for awhile.

Thank you champagnetrail for answering on the Thrall cars information.
LV410, I model the 1965-1970 timeframe so I want to see Tangent release the 3 Greenville cars (69001, 69002 and 69007) the AA assumed the lease from GBW in 1969 and were pained in the all orange with the Large black block logo. They offer an undec version good for the GBW Greenville version so if I feel frisky I may go that route and paint my own but I have a ton of Kato GP35 locomotives I am working on now so I might not get to that for a while.
I hope I don't have to wait too long for Thralls in AA livery!

Sorry, not Ann Arbor modeler and was a little bit confused.
I have two of the Class One N&W blue hi cube boxcars on order, but with them being a new company, I'm just not sure when we will see those...

LV 410, no problem. I wasn't as clear as I should have. I am a member of a large club layout and we have great numbers of hi cubes and several of the members have the later Tangent AA boxcars in the "Ferry in the Fog" logo and the later patched versions and they look great like all Tangent models. We run different operating sessions with different eras of equipment.
I have several of the Thrall Wabash (Scale Trains) and N&W (Class One Model works) cars on order. I keep eyeing the Penn Central cars as well!
Thanks for chiming in. I appreciate the information.

A few of the road names that ScaleTrains announced (C&O and ATSF) are "type 3" cars, so they would be appropriate for the other bigger group of cars that went from GBW to AA. I don't see where ScaleTrains is offering undecorated models, so you'll have your work cut out for you to get an AA car. Or you'll have to wait patiently.
