Jon, I haven't been able to watch the video you posted. All that I see is a black rectangle with a gray or silver circle enclosing an exclamation point, next to This video is private in white and a small gray and silver rectangle with curved corners and a right-pointing arrow on it. When I press that, I don't reach any video about the HO models of NP coaches coming from Rapido Trains.
What's up?

Seems like this project still needs orders. I wonder if the choice of car is part of the problem. Northern Pacific is under-represented in model form, but if they want to make the North Coast Limited, I think the dome or the observation car would have been a better choice.
Starting with the coach seems a bit boring. I think a 'cool' car like a dome would have brought more interest. You get people to buy the first car, and then rope them in to completing the train. If you get people to invest in the better cars at the beginning, you can force the hand of the diehard modelers. Slip them some good ones at the beginning, and then compel them to buy the mundane cars at the end of the run to complete the train.

In my view, they actually started with the Slumbercoach. Mine should be coming along fairly soon.
I ordered two of the coaches, hoping they'll do the NCL. If they give up (as they kinda did with the New Haven cars--no Grill car), I can put them in an early Amtrak train, as is.

This is a very attractive car, especially in the livery designed by Loewy. However, it's not high enough on my priority that I can justify ordering it.
Did any of these actually get to the Northeastern US once Amtrak got started? I don't remember seeing any, but I haven't seen nearly as many trains as many participants on this forum.
If I ever get a Slumbercoach, it will be one of the NYC's equivalents. I rode in a Slumbercoadh just once, from Boston to Philadelphia on the night before a hearing before my draft board. I was a little taller then and found the bed a bit too short. I rode in a roomette once and found it more comfortable. Nearly all my trips have been in coaches; I like being able to see out both sides of a train. Back in 1963 the B&O provided nice free pillows for use by coach passengers on its National Limited.

I think some GN coaches went east. I don't think these NP cars did.

I'm ordering a couple of these coaches because I heard some were leased(?) to Amtrak in the rainbow era. I'm sure other types of cars from that train were owned by Amtrak so I hope more get made.

Perhaps more than a dome or obs car, these could be used on more trains by NP modelers than just the North Coast Limited. This coach was found across their system.
