John, I bought some Trident vans and they wouldn't fit on the lower deck of my Genesis bi-levels. Are yours Tridents and if so, how did you get them to fit.

They are resin cast from my own masters. The body is slightly shorter than the Trident, but I still had to lower the ride height more than I wanted to get the vans to fit on the first deck. Even then the roofs are jammed against the upper deck. Athearn really screwed the pooch modeling the top deck in its lowest position.

Yes, that sucks. I'll probably have to put the vans in the top level and trucks on the bottom.

Train #24, the eastbound Afternoon Zephyr accelerating past East Cabin after completing it's 8:09pm stop at East Dubuque, IL in the last rays of the June 1969 sunshine. I was messing with the track lighting to try to get the effect of the early evening. Consist is two Walthers E-9s, a Shoreham Shops baggage grill car, and Broadway Cal Zephyr dome coaches re-lettered to stand in for the very similar Twin Zephyr dome coaches. Tim VanMersbergen

Here is my Penn Central (PRR) X56 double door boxcar that I completed a couple of years ago. Car started with a Branchline double door boxcar that I stripped off the painted, added new sidesills, Moloco cushioned coupler pockets, Plano running board supports, Plano coupler lift bars and Tahoe 70-ton ASF trucks. I also used Kadee 153 short shank couplers and Tichy stirrups. I then painted it Scalecoat PC green, decaled it with Microscale and PCRRHS decals and then added some weathering appropriate for the late PC era.

A couple shots of a recently finished Scale Trains SP SD38-2, I don't ever intend to model Colton but this was just too interesting to pass up! Out of the box it had a few issues to correct, mostly crooked parts, nothing tragic, I also removed it's Los Angeles assignment stencil, added a full color builder's plate and ACI so it was closer to it's as delivered appearance. It's really for use on my buddy's layout as a switcher and local unit, I had the chance to run it for the first time yesterday and it performed quite well moving cars around to various industries and handled 25 cars easily along the main. It makes an interesting if unlikely companion to my SD39 as well.......Might be time to get an Atlas SD35!

Great work all! tom That PC box looks great, love the X56 prototype. TBird1958 Great work on that SD38. Those look like super nice models, need to come up for an excuse to get one. Finishing up this Bowser M636 this weekend. Installed loksound and scalesoundsystems speaker, and working on separating the ditchlights from the headlight LED. Weathered with mostly oils and AK products.

Those vehicles are absolutely outstanding! I'd be interested in some of those if you ever offer them or see how to make them. I'd like to see some plymouth Dusters and Pintos some of the vehicles that often get overlooked I'm going to have a junkyard too on my layout and would like to cast some vehicles to weather ect.

Having owned several of these vans the ride height doesn't look bad, just presume they're all G10 or G20 vans. These would sell well if someone made them. I bought some Trident ones even though they're too new (78-83 or so grille) just to have them, facing away they look the same, and one will get painted like the one I drive at some point.

I used to wrap HO vehicle bodies with aluminum foil then cut out the windows with a sharp knife, open hoods, etc. Carefully unwrap and reshape, paint, and they would result in very realistic looking damaged and mashed cars for a very minimal cost.

Here is the first test print of my RP-E4D project. I still have to finish the walkway and the frame. Those will be printed parts, too.
The db fan does not fit since the hole is sized for Cannon 48'' fans, however I found this one in my stash and it is a perfect fit for PNWR 102, so I will widen the hole accordingly. Apart from that, there are only minor things to fix like louver or headlight positions.
The main problem with this first test print is that both sides are badly warped. You can see it in the lines of the rear door. I'm going to address that by drawing two bulkheads in the shell which will also have threads or magnets to fix the upper shell to the frame.
So as for now, back to the drawing board.

To fix the warp, you may also want to reconfigure your curing process. Are these commercial parts, or did you print it yourself? I use the Anycubic Wash And Cure to finish my prints. I've noticed a similar thing happen to some of my own shells when I cure them. They form a concave shape on the outside. This is caused by the exterior curing and shrinking more than the interior of the shell, thereby pulling the exterior surface together and warping the shell. You need to increase the rate of curing on the inside. If you are rotating this print in a curing bed, orient the shell vertically and rotate it on the long axis so the UV light can get inside the shell. You may need to create a cradle or prop the shell up so it doesn't fall over.

Thank you for the advice, I’ll talk about it with my colleague who did the print. We have an Elegoo printer at work, complete with washing and curing systems.
