I just went to the website of American Model Builders AKA LASERkit to check on a kit and discovered that they have closed! laserkit.com/This is a shame. I really hope someone will take over their line of kits.

That is terrible news. Their line of parts, tools and old style wood cabooses was significant. Looks like the founder passed suddenly.

That's a shock. My sympathies to his family. I agree, hopefully someone will pick up the line of models.

As a friend of mine said, "Call ScaleTrains. They'll buy anything." Anyway, I've emailed them. It could be a good supplement to their line.

Thanks for this thread with important though sad news. I have some LaserKit prodcts, didn't get around to buying as much from AMB as I'd hoped to. My sympathies to Mr. Hitzeman's family and others involved with the firm, and I hope another outfit continues to supply many of its products.

A lot of great kits in their catalog, a friend was buying up their LV wood transfer cabooses like mad to build for his freelance road, hope he got all the ones he needed.

I've not seen any reference to this, but American Model Builders shut down in February on the passing of its owner. I only found out today because I'm in the market for more of their 24-foot NP cabooses. Anybody aware of any likely purchaser? Neill Horton

Apparently the CAD drawings, instructions and masters have been acquired by Berkshire Valley Models.
