I spent the begining of the week finishing up the load of Chevy trucks I posted a couple weeks back. The out of the box Walthers rack still needs some work. I learned to drive in a Chevy C10 of similar vintage, with a gear shift indicator that was broken so you had to count clicks to be sure you were in 'D'. Good memories....

Completed the weathering on my Tangent General American 4700 covered hopper. Car started as a undecorated kit that I than painted Scalecoat PC green and then lettered with an assortment of decals (K4, Microscale, PCRRHS and even from a Railyard Models set). Car represents an ex-NYC car repainted into PC green. Car weathered with pencils, PanPastels and airbrushing.

The Walthers flatcar is 9 1/2' wide, when I believe it should be closer to 9'. That not withstanding, the newly tooled flat car is pretty nice for a Mainline car. It's got nice underbody detail. It'll need some grabs, cut bars and air hoses added, and I'd like to change out the thick ladders on the corners of the rack.

Maybe they'd go well on an Athearn flat? Or maybe there's a way to narrow the Walthers flat by the appropriate amount? Or maybe it's not that noticeable.

Accurail still sells some of the parts sprues from their autoracks, but they don't have the decks. Check your PMs.

Well after a long period I have finally gotten back to do some modeling. Finally finished this repaint of a Tangent coal hopper. Original Southern hooper stripped and repainted black. Decals are from a set designed for me by PDC. Some Microscale and Shellscale added as well, the PDC set is really for Southern boxcars. Along side a brother in original paint. Great work this week.

A busy week! First off, I managed to dust off another two cars, the kadee SCL car received moloco trucks and wheelsets to replace the stock trucks On Saturday I traveled to the Allentown, PA area to operate on a friends RDG Shamokin Division layout, it's usually the highlight of my month hobby wise making the trip out here for sessions. I finally got to run one of the LNE jobs, pictured here the Pen Argyl PM Turnaround has just passed the block station at Andreas, PA and is hauling west back to Arlington. On Sunday it was train show at Mother Seaton High School in Clark, NJ, myself and fellow ARF member/long time friend 12bridge have been coming out for this show since we were teenagers, Paul happened to be back east for a bit and we got to go together for the first time in well over a decade, got to see a lot of hobby friends from around the tri-state too. I spent a lot of $$$ on freight cars and books/paperwork, including a couple CNJ dispatchers trainsheets from Allentown and a really cool marketing brochure from the LHRs traffic department. I look forward to this show every year and it never disappoints, if you model a northeastern road, there's something for you here.
My legs hurt, and i'm tired and hungry, either a sign of age or accomplishment.

Another fine batch of real modeling, thanks to all that shared their work. Hudsonyard, the acquisition of age IS an accomplishment. Tired legs are the wages you pay….

I'm stunned that none of the Silicon Valley entrepreneurs has rescued Anchor yet like Fritz Maytag did 60 years ago.

TBird1958, what outfit makes the RSD-12 kit? I'm having trouble reading its name upside down on the upside-down box for it in the photo.
Thanks to all for posting very nice modeling!

I had a super busy week, so I really wasn't ble to do much of anything. However I did go to a train show and grabbed a few things. Th IMWX car will be a base for a GN 42xx series at a later date, IC car needs a lil work to be closer to prototype (kinda similar work to the MKT car I did a while ago), and the U33C will get built up. Now for the fun part of the U33C build, hunting down detail parts and matching paint.

In addition to the Kadee trucks, Plate C Models (Adam) makes both ASF and Barber trucks with the ACL-style retainer. I have about a half-a-dozen pairs and they are quite nice. Roll well too. platecmp.com/index.php/product/4110-01/
