Unfortunately, no time for modelling this week. Time for a different kind of build. Looking forward to seeing some great work this week - as there always is! 😊

Ah yes, starting in 2000 I was building my own systems ordering the parts from New Egg at the time. I've built over 40 desktop computers since then but none in recent years. I'm busy putting down plaster today on the layout I hope to have it more than half done. It's messy work. After the plaster I'll probably look for some latex paint to go over it for a base scenery color and some sanded grout for texture.

Things on my desk this week............. Got started on some RSD-12 side frames, these began as Stewart Alco C-628 parts that I'm backdating, lowered the brake cylinders after changing how they mount, added some rigging, air lines and sand line brackets. A couple of Rapido B-70-69s showed up in the mail, they're quite nice, here's one next to a Moloco car.... The under frame is super nice and the trucks roll well. PC&F fun, I'll weather the two Rapido cars and the Genesis ( was $25.00 new at my LHS) as a group.

Nice SP boxcars! ;-) I spent a messy day with plaster over the plaster gauze - I added a little pigment to make it easier to see as I worked with it and smoothed it out. I've gone through about 25 or so pounds of plaster so far and am closed to 3/4 of the way done.

Apparently you can use the same dye for coloring concrete to turn the plaster brown. Box Hardware stores sell it for about $10-ish. Was thinking I'd try that if just so should the plaster get chipped it's not nearly so obvious.

I completed this car quite a while ago but I do not think I ever posted a photo of it. Car started as an undec Branchline undecorated 40' boxcar. Ladders were lowered and Plano running board supports were added plus Kato 50-ton ASF trucks were used. Decals are by Highball Graphics. Car with its big BAR reporting marks certainly stands out.
