I received a notice from a fellow modeler that Bob Harpe has passed away due to complications from cancer surgery. Bob was a prolific modeler of the Southern and many other southeastern roads. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

I did not know Bob but greatly enjoyed his build logs of Southern engines. They were a great resource when I was just getting into super detailing.

I hate to hear that. While I didn't know Bob Harpe personally, I talked to him about couuple of his projects one or two times when they were having an Atlanta RPM show. He was very patient and didn't mind discussing his projects with those that had questions.

I knew Bob for several years and followed all his first online clinics on the old Yahoo groups. Bob got me into RPM modeling along with Tony Sissons. I had not heard from Bob in awhile but knew his health was going down after his wife passed a few years ago. Saw him last year at Savannah RPM which has moved to Macon this year and is actually this coming weekend. the RPM is going forward as it would be Bob's wishes stated Ken Preston who has handled the RPM these past few years.
I will miss Bob's guidance at times.

One of the reasons I developed such an affinity for the Clinchfield was because of how well some guys modeled their motive power, Bob Harpe always was a standout in a field of great modelers in that regard.

I am really sorry to hear this. I too admired his clinics tremendously, even trying to mimic them years ago with western themed build projects. I am certain that he will be missed. I send my condolences to friends and family.
Sincerely, Donnell

Bob painted several of my homeroad engines. Always friendly and professional. He knew his stuff. He'll be missed by many,
