Has anyone has successfully replaced the Atlas SD35 trucks with P2K trucks or sideframes? A while ago I showed my redetailed Atlas SD35 that I also narrowed the sideframe spacing some but still not satisfied with the overall look. Here is a photo (from Ebay) of the P2K trucks that look better to me than the Atlas ones. Heard that they were Kato clones (except for the clasp brakes) and they do look it. Those holes on the P2K sideframe look kinda of big but the overall look is more refined than the Atlas ones. Thanks.

The holes in the P2K truck are too large. I'd est their diameter is about 1/3 the frame thickness, distracting from the overall look. Could be filled & re-drilled, haven't seen that done. On a weathered model they look better.
Atlas truck holes look slightly small, but could be drilled larger.

The older P2K SD7 trucks have a lot of slop in the gears. I wouldn't recommend using them.
Maybe if you could round up some of the Walthers Proto helical geared ones, as those are much better performing.

I'll give up on upgrading my SD35 because it would be cost prohibitive even I could get it to work. Hey maybe Walthers could issue a SD35 since they at least have the trucks?!?

They have a decent GP35 too. So maybe?
I'm curious if the brake gear on the SD35 would be the same as on an SD40-2 though?
