They were a Japanese brass manufacturer that exported O and HO scale models to the United States from 1950 to 1988. Importers from them counted IMP, KWR, MG, USH, WSM, PSC, AHM, Balboa, Gem, GHC, HO Train Co., Ken Kidder, Key, LMB, PFM. In particular, they were the exclusive supplier of O scale steam locomotives (to Max Gray, US Hobbies, Westside, Precision Scale and Ken Kidder). After that, they specialized in the domestic market in Japan, mainly producing HO-scale interurbans and EMUs to this day.
One of Katsumi's brass craftsmen was recently featured in a national newspaper. He joined the company in 1974 and is said to have produced over 100,000 cars in 47 years. Please visit the Asahi Shimbun Digital website.
