I got the email, but haven't checked the new website. The old one did need revamping.

I like dealing with YD, the ship time from southern NJ to eastern long island is only a couple days.

The locomotive on the homepage is an AI generated image. It feels a bit sketchy, like a web development team tried to cut corners or save a few bucks instead of using a picture of an actual model or layout. It reminds me of the train siloutette on the bottom of the old Model Train Stuff website that had four axle trucks on the cars.

Always wondered where the name "Yankee Dabbler" came from.

That ai model image is disturbing and would provoke me not to shop there based in that alone. Very bad.

Yikes, sure does look like AI. I don't think Athearn would want their "vehicles" (vehicles???) associated with that image.

Have they changed the homepage pic? The only pic I can see of a loco appears to be something German, but its greyed out and mainly hidden by a countdown box

Apparently they got the message. I'm glad they did. Your local hobby shop should be a community institution where you know the owner and get personalized service. An AI-generated website gets in the way of that. I want to be assured that the shop owner and staff are modelers themselves who are knowledgable about the hobby and the products they sell. Any scam website can AI-generate images of model trains. It's deceptive and misprepresents the products when a real well-known store does it. It's easy to notice if you're an experienced modeler, but for someone new to the hobby, or someone who isn't skilled with the internet, they may not realize that a website is being fradulent. Yankee Dabbler is not a scam, but if everyone starts using AI, it will be harder to differentiate real shops from scam websites that steal your credit card.

Thanks. I’ve actually been playing with AI to see what it can visualise for my fictitious line set on the Canary Island of Lanzarote. Although it really struggles with railway tracks and overhead wires, it has come up with some interesting and convincing paint schemes

Same here, but for a proto-freelance northern Mexico mining town & railroad. Three rails into two or disappearing is common, you never know what it'll do with wires or anything to do with "streetcar" ot "tram". I'm using the Bing version because I already had a Microsoft account. What are you using?
