Guy on ebay is offering the 12-car set of Walthers X29B's and caboose painted for Merchandise Service.
Cars look pretty good, not sure if the side sills have enough relief. ~ Walt
Edit: running board and handbrake a bit chunky, side grabs don't stand off far enough, should it have Pennsy trucks? Lots of separate parts, but some don't look that great. Proto should be better than this. I might rather build an F&C.

Those trucks are dead on arrival. spring packs look like rigatoni noodles.

These cars look "workable" for improvements like adding a better draft gear and a finer running board. I suspect sellers will be willing to break up packs to sell cars individually when sales slow down after the initial release. I would have preferred Tangent to make these cars since it would have been a much better model overall. However, at least Walthers put this model in their "Proto" line. Here is a photo of an F&C kit that I built over 4 years ago. I have an X29D kit that I started, but probably won't finish. Mark J. Reading, PA

My local hobby store got 2 in about a month ago.
I'm in the market for about 6 cars, not 12. I bought a caboose, and will buy a half-dozen off of my friend who got a pack.

4/13/2024, starting about 7:51 p.m., EDT
I might be interested in buying a single one of the Walthers X29B cars at a reasonable price.

You would think they would put those fancy sprung trucks on their proto cars. If they made the springs blackened like they do on their couplers that would be really cool looking.

Anyone offering them as singles? I saw photos from others that it was done as a 12-car blister pack, not 12 individual blisters fitting in one box. So, the best you can hope for is someone breaking the set up, but you wont have good packaging.

Same thing they did with the Trainline 60' heavyweights. A waste of space.

Reading, PA That's why I did mine as a "batch" project, so that I didn't get tempted to leave any of the kits on the back of the bench, unfinished. At a glance, the Walthers cars don't look bad but somehow feel chunky compared to the F&C kit. I think it's the separate roof. While I could probably upgrade the RTR car faster than I could build the resin kit, the F&C holds up arguably very well.
