Hello All - I've been working on decals for the 3D Central Side Slider cars and a number of other things, and they are now available on my new online store: www.railtrainhobbies.comSide Slider decal sets include: - Acrata and Mad River
- Caffall Brothers
- Hampton Lumber
- Oregon Cedar
- Plum Creek
- Idaho Forest Industries
- Louisiana Midland (Coming Soon)
I also have decals for numerous SP freight cars and other things too. There are a lot more decal sets in work, as well as some projects for custom-run models and details parts + paint. Take a look if you are interested. And I'll use this opportunity to put in a plug for the 3D Central Side Slider cars - they look and operate great. I ran this newly-finished Amador Central car in my train all weekend at a recent La Mesa operating session and it ran flawlessly the whole time. While they are kits, they go together well and are fun to build. Nice. Glad to see the BAR double plug door set. Re: data sets. I picked up a bunch of Microscale data sets recently intending to use them on a pair of CPAA NACC boxcars. They all seem to be for Plate C or larger cars. My biggest gripe: All of the dimensional data has a period between each letter. I.e., "E.X.W.", "I.L.", etc. RR's haven't used periods so freely since the 20's! I don't mind piecing together lettering, but having to cut out all those extraneous periods and re-space the letters is ridiculous. So, I could use some accurate data sets for 60's-70's cars. If anybody is aware of better data decals than this Microscale stuff, I'd love to hear about it. Gonna try some from Highball, fingers crossed. ~ Walt
Edit:
Found a Microscale set for FMC Plate B and C boxcars. No periods. :-)

It's one of the things that led me to start doing decals in the first place. I had a kitbashed model of a Cotton Belt B-70-48 boxcar that was ready for paint, but I realized there was nothing even close out there for decals. The project stalled out for years, 'til I created the set (now for sale on the website). And the car's finally done. Patch and reweigh sets for the 1970s and 80s are high on my list, with first focus on SP/SSW and BN shop locations. I'm definitely open to others as well. -Rick Rick Selby RailTrainHobbies.com Northwestrpm.com

More 50' boxcar data sets would be good to see. There is also a paucity (well maybe none) of data decals available for 1960-1980 era 60' boxcars. What with the new Tangent undecorated Greenvilles plus Atlas ACFs and Intermountain PS-1s, I could use sets for 60' cars.

What with the new Tangent undecorated Greenvilles plus Atlas ACFs and Intermountain PS-1s, I could use sets for 60' cars. I'm about half way through the work on sets for the ACF 60' boxcars that SP ran (several variations of the Atlas car), and I'm also busy working on a number of sets for 60' FMC and PCF cars as well. I just sent a set off to be printed today for the SP B-100-44 60' PCF cars, and there will be more of these to come. All that said, I'm always open to suggestions. Good high-res photos that are scan-able and traceable in Illustrator go a long way towards helping the cause. -Rick Rick Selby RailTrainHobbies.com Northwestrpm.com
