Bought a cheap Atlas O boxcar that had been repainted. 91% and 99% alcohol have hardly made a dent in the paint. Must be Scalecoat or another enamel? I guess the next step will be brake fluid. Oven cleaner would probably not play nice with the plastic body. Any other suggestions? ~ Walt

Sounds tough. I've had a little luck with the stuff shown below. In the eent that it doesn't work, its still useful to have a bottle around the house.

If alcohol does not work, Baking soda blasting is your best option. While oven cleaner, super clean, brake fluid and pine sol were old paint stripping methods, you could not pay me to use them today. I have seen far too many things destroyed using all of those methods. The only thing oven cleaner was good for was taking chrome plating off.

Ditto 12bridge's comments. There might be Scalecoat stripper still on some shops shelves. The military guys use strippers from AK Interactive, Strip Magic, and VMS. I have not tried any of those and have a feeling that they might not touch well cured enamel.
