- HO EMD GP40-2 SERIES DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE (D&RGW, RF&P, Chessie, SP, FEC and CSX)
- HO F89-F BI-LEVEL AUTO RACK (open Frisco, CB&Q, NP, side panels Southern, NW and The Rock)
- HO 20FT ISO DROP FRAME CHASSIS (Long Island, Southern, MP, Suzy Q, WM and ALton and Southern)
- HO 50FT FMC 5277 BOX CAR (Railbox early and late, CN ex-Railbox, CN, TTX and Minnesota Dakota & Western)
- HO 20FT ISO TANK CONTAINER
- HO 20FT ISO DROP FRAME CHASSIS
I'm in for a couple of the autoracks with side panels. Unfortunately the D&RGW GP40-2's have roof beacons and rear mounted horns - probably 90's era. Still waiting for those Genesis D&RGW EV cabooses they supposedly are going to announce - some day.

The new conntainers are pretty cool. They look similar to the Walthers kits, but they have etched roofwalks. The gooseneck container trailer has been produced by American Limited as a kit before too, but I haven't seen that one in a long time. Lots of interesting stuff this month. The FMC combo-door boxcar is supposedly new tooling too. Is this one of the too-wide MDC cars being corrected?

They're doing the LL, or what if on some of the autoracks. A couple years ago Athearn did the Genesis bi-level auto racks and the Southern had side panels. I got one back then, so the NW and RI are what I'm after. The Southern looks like a repeat.

The only Chessie scheme they are doing is the GM 50th scheme. I'll take some of those side panel racks, I already have 2 Chessie GP40-2s from their last release might take one more š¤.

The Athearn page does say 1990s. Unfortunately the D&RGW GP40-2's have roof beacons and rear mounted horns - probably 90's era.

LIRR 1519 and 1520 were ex D&H RS2's, not RS3s in case anyone was wondering.

The other enclosed racks are FOOBIES as Athearn have used the unique style panels found on the Southern cars. As Athearn mentioned, those two are LL What If "Legend Liveries". They have kind of "cheated" for sales purposes, which is understandable , for non-prototypical modelers. WHY? Athearn have not produced the more common corrugated paneling found on most cars of the 70's is beyond me, it would be a huge seller if done correctly, but that is where the concern is with Athearn freight cars, and WHY? are they re-running a Bi-level when it has been a long time since they have done tri-levels. Athearn are slowly slipping further behind several other manufacturers when it comes to accurate freight cars.

Too bad if they are foobies. I too wonder why Athearn doesn't offer more racks with side panels. Only the Southern. I would really like some tri and bi levels with side panels.

No tri-lelvels? Although the Rock bil-level is tempting, the panel thing is something I wouldn't expect/want on a genesis car. I don't recall if the FMC 5277 is the chonky car or not, and I'm note sure when ISO containers were a thing.

5/29/2024, shortly after 4 p.m., EDT
The D&H had only one RS-3 that was built for passenger service, its 4036.
Predictably, some of the newly announced Athearn Roundhouse series "50' Exterior Post High Cube Plug Door Box Car" models are lettered as plate C cars (D&RGW, SL-SF, as well as Conrail, though that paint scheme has no "plate" marking or door dimensions, but its cu. ft. marking is comparable) but the others are lettered as much larger plate F cars.
The Athearn serie s "50ft 5277 Combo Door Box Car" models are lableeled as "brand new FMC 5277 model" and are lettered as Plate C and 5277 cu.ft. with appropriate door dimensions; the TTX TTX scheme is a "Legendary Liveries" "Alt. Era" 2006+
