One of the tools at the top of my list is a digital caliper with built-in scale functions.
So instead of only getting inch fraction, inch decimal, metric millimeters, metric centimeters, you can also get G scale, O scale, HO scale, N scale, etc.
I've submitted this to a couple tool mfg companies. Awaiting response.
Anyone work at a tool mfg and have the ability to make this?

Neat idea, especially if the user could change the measurement system to any scale or system whenever they wanted.
Need to send out a proposal to Chinese manufacturers / importers.

I want a rolling road with a tachometer to measure scale-speed readouts. Imagine the Proses rolling road combined with the Accutrack II speedometer. It would be a boon for speed matching and momentum testing without requiring a loop of track.

Maybe in DCC Gen 7, we can get the following: Tachometer for motor RPM's Scale speedometer based upon actual ground speed Block indicator signals all on a color display screen with a nice hand held controller, or your personal mobile device.

The first two have been technically available for some time. They just were squashed courtesy of a lawsuit from a toy train company, and I don't think anybody else has stepped back up.

I've been wondering what will happen now that Mike's out of the business. They sold the tooling for steam engines to Scale Trains, so that would potentially also include a license or the patent itself for the tech - although once the J's arrive we'll need to see how they are handling the speed sensing. Also, since Mike's no longer in the biz, would it be possible for someone to go after the patent? It's not like it's anything unique, and I'm not sure why it was patentable in the first place. The only innovation in it was having it scale down to a scale size model train.

I was making something like this to go with the bachmann rollers, but it stalled because I can't find good roller bearings small enough to use. The ones i used wound up being difficult for a newer athearn SW1000 to roll (not that the bachmann rollers are rell good either. Also: A tool to pull the bottom gear covers off in one of atlas, athearn genesis, and others who use that design. I have an idea, but no way to make it.
