Sounds like the old tooling had issues and they went with brand new tooling instead Clune tooled the SD45T-2, SD50/60 with an eye toward them eventually going Genesis. Dave

Hope they get the recessed fan area right for Conrail, and the lowered recessed sand-filler hatch on the rear of some of their 60's.

Dave Except it sounds and looks like they're going to use their existing Dash 2 cab (instead of the Clune cab, which is much better, ignoring the 60-series roof batten strip), which has the worst cab window dimensions of any modern EMD Spartan Cab tooling. They are 7% too short in their height, giving a very squinty and un-EMD look, unless somewhat masked with thick gasket paint or decals. The Genesis cab windows are dead last among 8 of the most recently-tooled EMD cab windows in both width and height dimension accuracy. Their corner radii and close placement to top of short hood are pretty well done, but their height (or lack thereof) leaves WAY too much space between the windows and the bottom of the numberboard assembly, exacerbated by the lack of the numberboard mounting flange that properly exists on Cannon and recent ScaleTrains offerings. In short, in most lighting conditions, the center cab windows should appear to almost fill up the space between the short hood weld and numberboard housing. Go look at pictures. This is a very characteristic and trademark look to an EMD locomotive. The Genesis cab does NOT have this look. It's a shame we're getting the SD50, and I'd venture a guess an SD60 also, that we've wanted and needed, and we're still stuck with a very subpar cab. Kind of like the continual releases of 81" short hoods without heater louvers. How has this not been fixed yet?!?

Which makes using properly sized numbers impossible.
