So hello,I have a login ? password which works, so I can show progress on my empire as I do the scenicing. Here is the final track plan. I meant to use the template for the Atlas turntable but, you will get the idea.

Great track plan. What is your grid size? Also, have you thought of adding a curve to the left yard lead/ladder track, upper right, and meeting the stub siding on the left. That would give you full run through for trains in the yard, like the big guys. I don't know if the radius would be too sharp, but you might get it to work. If that's an industry track, add another right hand switch/turnout and put the industry in the curve just created. I'm not trying to tell you your business, but I wish that my yard was double ended. Regards Charley.

What industries are you going to have, and what era will you be modeling?

Looking like a good start, Carl.
I have to agree with Charley's suggestions, if it will work out for you.
Looking forward to some pics as you progress.

It is a freelance (horrors) switching / branch operation. The grids are 6".This is on 2 HCD's,with part of a folding door HCD in between. DC (horrors) (too many older engines to convert) I am making many of the industries from the Walther's modulars, so that I can custom construct loading ramps etc. There have been a few changes from this image, I reduced the 1 spur to a single track, rather than trying to make a double line under the MiJac. Since that photo I have some minor amounts of "grass" in place to get a feel for it.ballasting starts soon. I did think of making it a double track mainline, but I feel it will have more of a branch / switching feel. The radius on any inside curve, is larger than 11" the outers were larger than 13" I used the Atlas RTS program, and templated 13.5"radius' from the C55 to see how things would fit. But, as I have MUCH older equipment, I am using C80 flex for the actual main, and passing, and stretches in the yard. I did decide early, to go with a double ended yard, to make making up consists easier. There will be simple engine servicing by the turntable, the stub above the turntable lead, will be where either diesel fuel, sand, or coal will be delivered.

Carl, you've definitely got a pretty good start.
I'm where you are, scenery-wise on my HO layout. Only a small portion of scenery, so far.
Keep us posted with your progress.

Good to see the old AT&SF resurrected and back in action. Heck, if you are scratching your head and wondering what I meant. What do you think I'ma doing? Your plan looks good and there's nothing like some track down, giving you the opportunity to run trains. Keep bringing it back here.

I'm sorry I took so long to comment on this.
It looks great Carl. Similar to a layout I had in the seventies - ninties. Plenty of sidings and I like the switchbacks. Always makes for interesting switching.
So help me, I love pictures of layouts in progress!
