Managed to finish a couple of models this week! First, an old Athearn 40' Trailer where I removed the PFE details so it looked like a normal trailer, painted with Scalecoat II Silver paint and lettered with Highball Graphics decals. I wanted to have a few more lease trailers versus too many railroad owned trailers. Next a Kadee 50' PS1 boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red paint and lettered with Highball Graphics decals. Boxcar was used in general service on the Central of Georgia and other Southern subsidiaries. A Stewart U25b and Kato GP35 detailed and painted for the Rock Island running with general freight train on the Strongsville Club layout. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski

I've removed those funky landing gear "wings from the few Athearn 40' blue box trailers. The PFE trailers were very rare by the mid-late 70's

I haven't posted much of late, very busy with musical endeavors, so not much time for serious modelling projects. Just some fun weathering projects for when I have a few spare minutes..... Cheers, Mark Hills

Modified these athearn trailers to fit on this one flatcar by putting the kingpins further back Did some more work to pilots of this loco. Notched them as well. When I was going around applying panel line wash to all the panel lines, I noticed one of the etched steps was missing. I've ordered one for the front range GP7/9 to try out.

Did the 1774 come with the GN-style steps?

Did the 1774 come with the GN-style steps? Yeah. However athearn didn't have the full row of grabs on that corner with the brake stand. I moved the brake stand, added the grabs, and redis the stripes a long time ago.

I wanted to have a few more lease trailers versus too many railroad owned trailers. Which PFE details? The side pieces that jut down next to the landing gear. The bars at the back on the bottom the curve up. There is a vertical row of what looks like grab irons on the front as well.

I clip those wings and the curved part of the crash bar on all those trailers.
