Inserting a comment here, my words NOT part of the newsletter from Rapido: I'm not seeing updates on the Turbo 2.0. Not sure when samples are supposed to show up.

  Upgrading Our Really Crummy Back End Computer System
  
  
  Attention valued customers: we are updating our operations system to serve you better! Our website will be inaccessible during this update, beginning the week of August 5th. You may remember back in 2021 when we launched a new site, things did not quite go as planned. So, this time we have worked tirelessly and taken every precaution possible to ensure that even if a delay does happen, it won't be the end of the world.
  
  
  Here are things to keep in mind:
  
  
  

  • Don't panic! Your existing orders will stay safe in our system. The Operations Teams will make sure to keep track of any discrepancies in the system.
  • Place any orders before August 5th or hold off ordering until we are back up and running sometime later in the week (fingers crossed for August 8th!).
  • As for when our website will be back online, we should be good to go by the end of the week, but please check social media, including our Facebook and Instagram pages for updates.

  
  
  We, at Rapido Trains, are always striving to improve our outdated systems and clunky practices to make things better for our customers and those we work with. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are optimistic this will make things smoother for everyone in the long run! For the HO Scale U25B Locomotive, we made a couple of changes to the sales pack to better clarify some of the schemes we are offering. Of those changes, we added the Maine Central artwork with frog eye lights. MEC has two road numbers with these features and two without. We now are referring to these lights as frog "eye" lights.


Jason: Yes, we got some emails regarding the naming of those lights. And no, we have no idea where he found that photo of the frog!

Wow just look at those gorgeous models and photos. Hard to believe we have advanced to this when you compare to the quality of say 30 years ago.

Thanks for re-posting the newsletter, much easier to read and enjoy with the large photos this way.

I will say that Rapido’s design for the side-mounted stirrups on the flatcar is a clever approach. They have the riveted portion of the stirrup molded into the side of the car and the lower metal potion formed with offset mounting pins. This allows the metal stirrup to be flush with the side of the car. Not a bad idea.

In the enlarged portion of the photo you can see how the mounting pins are offset.



If Rapido ever offered these as separate parts, I would consider giving them a try.

Lotsa goodies here. Will be getting one each CP mechanical reefer and CN combo door box. Looking forward to the CN steel van, the Enterprise hoppers, and the R7 and R40-27 reefers.

What a wonderful comment for Rapido and a total surprise on this forum. 

I'm very interested in the Empress, but don't know how I will ever afford one.  I had dismissed this one as being too similar to the Royal.  Now, I'm not so sure - especially after the multi-country excursion tour (except Mexico).

I asked these questions on FB, but didn't get a quality answer - paraphrasing the answer, "like the Royal Hudson."  Well, as a Royal owner already that doesn't confirm anything for me.

• What's Diecast and what's not (tender, cab, boiler, frame)?
• Is it delivered with traction tires?
• If traction tires, delivered installed with an extra traction-tire-less driver?
