Recommendation for Windshield Wiper Replacements for Atlas

I have several new release Atlas GP38s and GP40s on which I would like to replace the oversized Atlas stock windshield wipers.

I think the detail parts market has taken kind of a hit as to what is still made and what might be available on eBay, etc.

Years ago, I used some Detail Associates wipers and, I think, some Cal Scale.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I can use (if I can find them) nowadays>

I've used A-line ones. I don't know of an etched metal replacement set.

I don't think I've used anything other than A-Line's wipers for many, many years. I've spent a career looking through the glass at the real thing so I've become picky about what I put on my models.

The original runs of GP40s and GP38s had better wipers, if I remember right. At some point they became clunky and oversized.

You might take a look at KV Models.  They have a variety of etched wipers available for EMD, GE & Alco.  Here's one example.



Bowser/Cal-Scale also has some as well.

I dug out one of my original-run GP40s and, boy, those wipers were a million times more delicate than the current clunkers.

The early Atlas wiper blades on their Atlas (China) GP40s to me looked positively identical to the A-Line ones for whatever reason. Too bad the new ones have regressed.

That said, I will echo that my preferred aftermarket windshield wipers are those from either A-Line, or Detail Associates. That is, IF you can find the DA ones. DA's short wipers (over the low nose) for both EMD and GE variants had the crossbar that connected the two wiper assemblies together. This is something that the A-line sets never had.

True, on the A-Lines you have add the crossbar using a tiny strand of wire.

I am also going to order some KV wipers since I need some GE stanchions to fix my B23-7.
