Were these hoppers a mint green or just bad color balance? The hopper next to it is gray.

Some of them, like this car, were mint green.

Yes the 3510 CF Covered Hoppers were painted with the mint green paint, the foobie Athearn model is a 2893 CF car and is not even close to a 3510 CF car of which no model is made and one is needed.
The DTI also had 2893CF cars painted in standard light gray paint.
I am on vacation right now so I don’t have my reference material for the use of the mint green cars.

I just got back from Denver, and the mint green cars were assigned to the Wyandot Chemical Co. in Wyandot, MI hauling Soda Ash. They were painted in the special color as a way of reducing cleaning costs on the hoppers as they would then only be hauling Soda Ash and not have to be cleaned for hauling other commodities.
