Where can I find the diameter and length of the air res on the GP60B?
I have an old Rail Power shell that was started and the air res stub was removed. I have some Athearn air res parts - one for GP38-2 and another for SD70. The SD70 one is longer.
Searched several times to see if there are any articles on GP60B modeling what explanations of details parts to use. But, nothing came up in Bing/Google searches. Maybe there was MRR article about this. Anyone seen an article on this?

Lucky for you, I have a GP60M and an SD75M on my desk right now. The air resevoirs on both locomotives have a straight length of 12 feet (not including the round domes on the ends of the tank)

Model Railroading published several GP60M modeling articles that can be found in their diesel modeling compilation books. The first is Model Railroading’s Guide to Modeling and Detailing Diesels, Volume One, edited by Randy Lee. It includes a prototype closeup article by Rich Picariello, and a modeling article by Jay Tatum. The second book, the Diesel Modeler’s Guide, Volume 2, compiled and edited by Randy Lee, contain’s Dave Hussey outstanding two-part article, Modeling ATSF GP60 and GP60M Locomotives.
Unfortunately, both modeling articles had to use the only available starting point at the time, Athearn’s GP50, which was slightly shorter than the prototype GP60, so the dimensions of some components like those air tanks may not directly translate to your model. Nevertheless, they are excellent resources for detailing any GP60M model.

Are the gp60 air reservoirs not the standard EMD version? If they are, then the diameter is 15", and the length over the bells including the end mounting pad is 152". Cannon makes a nice part that includes the mounting brackets, drain valve, and weld beads.

I have a couple the Cannon parts left for a different project, but I would like to resolve the issues in lengths. The re-tooled reservoirs for the GP38-2 are shorter than the SD70 version. The Cannon & Company part description says applies to GP40 through SD70/75. So one of these is not correct. At this point I would like to get actual dimensions.
I was thinking about using the Athearn SD70 part since I have several of those from the past open house sale, but the hanger bracket is too low. Now I'm looking at using the Cannon part if it's correct for GP60B, or get the dims and sketch out a part for 3D printing and include all the detail so it's not multiple parts.

Regarding the GP60B trucks - these are not the well-known Athearn Blomberg M side frames. I looked at the parts sheet from Athearn and they actually created new side frames for this. I don't think they ever sold these as separate parts like they did for the B's and M's. The key sighting detail is the brow at the truck axle spring opening is horizontal (linear) the Blomberg B and early M have a similar curved brow. I'm looking for a set of these or the Proto 2000 GP60.

I'm using the Proto GP60 for the drive on this and it has the Athearn style trucks. Maybe a chassis will show upon Ebad soon.

For length I got 12 ft - 7 in. - but I don't what the point-to-point is for that one. I don't know if that is over the tank ends or over the hanger bracket mounts. I measured the Athearn SD70 part and than close to about 13 ft. over the tank ends (using scale ruler) - I don't know if that is correct or not.

The various catalog references I have on hand specify the same air reservoir for the sd70m and gp60, which also matches the EMD part number for the standard 2nd gen reservoir (8386928) that would apply to pretty much everything from the gp/sd38-2 through the gp/sd50. The included diagram shows the diameter at 15", with a length of 152" over the flanges on each end. End flange diameter is 8". The catalog spec for the mounting brackets does vary between the older units and the gp60, in that one of the gp60 brackets is a slightly different design that includes a rubber spacer pad. Whether that type of bracket was used in production would require finding some good detail photos of the tank ends. Unless you're determined to draw and print your own part, the Cannon part would appear to be prototypical for the gp60 and would be the most efficient way to get it done. Regrettably, there isn't an O scale equivalent to Cannon, so I did have to draw and print my own. These happen to be for an sw1500, which only matters with respect to the piping. The reservoir and hardware are the same as a typical road loco application. Jim

In the model world, they were made by TSP/Smokey Valley, but almost never appear. Athearn has them as Genesis parts, but they're also used on the F59PHI. The Proto truck is a bit "flat" and the Fox Valley one is just...poor.

That truck in the image of the F59PHI is not same used on Athearn GP60B - what is the phase/type of that one called? The first spotting feature for me is the brow above the spring group opening of each axle. The GP60B's have a linear (hort) rib and this one and the Blomberg M have a curve on the ends.
