I have been working with a friend's fleet of Steam engines and trying to get the DCC decoders behaving properly again. Right now my issue is with 3 of the Bachmann Spectrum C&O J-2 4-8-2's. At one time they all ran properly and made noise (at least those with sound) A little while ago, after sitting for a few months, I had trouble getting the DCC system to recognize the decoders. Then when the system did see the decoder, the engines still wouldn't run. After more futzing around, I got one to move. However, I still haven't gotten any sound. I yanked the factory decoder out and installed a new Tsunami Medium Steam Decoder. Still no sound. And yes, I did check the speaker. Arrghhh.
The programming has all been done through Decoder Pro v3.2 To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what exactly I did to get this far.
Does anyone have any helpful suggestions on how to fix this? (Please no opinions on quality, etc, - just real advice)
Thanks much, Joe Tonkin

CV8=8 Did you somehow set CV 128 to 0? Try setting CV19 to 0. What ohm speaker are you using? 8 ohm should be max, 8 ohm preferred, 16 ohm can be used.

Any luck? Good, bad, or otherwise?
