I have a P2K FA1/FB1 pair, both motorized that I'm interested in restoring. I have the new axles and am prepared to clean the grease. Would a decoder buddy mother board work? for instance?

Space is tight with the rear weight, especially if you want to fit a speaker. (Also need holes to let the sound out) You'll probably have to clip or file the locator pins for the OEM motherboard. Be very aware of space between shell and weight, but a TCS MB2 does fit for sure.

I've done several and removed the fan mechanism at the rear and was able to get Loksound 4 and speaker in with few issues, I redid the lights with LEDS that took some creative wiring but not any great challenge. These were before the Decoder Buddy was out. I'd guess that a smaller one would work well. Correct info below

The question is about the FA-1, which didn't have a "fan mechanism". Ed
