I want to add steel roofwalks to several undecorated 40’ Red Caboose boxcars before I paint them for my Squaw Valley Central. I’ve tried Kadee but I’m not a big fan of trying to glue delrin parts, and I really don’t want to drill holes to mount it. I’ve tried Tichy parts but they just didn’t seem ‘right’. Anyone found one that looks and fits the way they should?
Thanks for the help! Chuck

Plano has a few offerings: www.planomodelproducts.com/boxreef_scq.htmlIntermountain used to sell etched roofwalks separately until a few years ago (when they stopped selling parts separately). There might be a few shops or stores out there with some still in stock.

It consists of an activator and super glue (although the activator will work with any super glue). I have an Atlas S2 on which one of the stanchions broke. Super glue alone would not bond it, but a touch of the activator and it is holding. Greg

The biggest problem with Kadee running boards is that they have become ridiculously expensive. A couple of years ago (2021?)I picked up a lot of about 12 packs of 40’ and 50’ Kadee running boards from a seller on HOswap. I think I paid $35 (~$3/pack) for the lot not including shipping. It would be a dream to find them at that price now!
When my stock is gone, I’m switching to either Plano or Tangent.
By the way, Mainline Hobby Supply in Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania used to run 10% discount sales on Tangent parts. Not sure if they still do, but it’s worth checking out their online store.
Thanks, Mark J. Reading, PA
