I comepleted the weathering on my Athearn Genesis FGE refrigerator car and I am very impressed with the job that Athearn did on this car. The only detraction that I noticed was that the edge of the roof was a little too thick and detracted from the otherwise excellent model. Since the roof popped off I sanded down the bottom of the roof lip to make it thinner. 20 minutes with an emory board was all this it took to make it thinner like the prototype. The only other things was to add Microscale consolidated lube plates and Kadee short shank couplers. I added some light weathering as appropriate for the mid seventies. The paint and graphics on this car are excellent and really captures the look on these cars. The diesel generator vents are also done well. Another nice thing is that the stirrups and some of the piping are metal so these are not fragile. All in all an excellent model that with a little bit of work can be turned into a great representation of a prototype car. This is another great car for my Penn Central railroad!

Looks great, Tom. I too agree Athearn did a great job on this car. I'm all giggity over the FGE Solid Cold version. Looking forward to more runs of these cars from Athearn. FGE is one my favorite car builders.

Tom: very nice job on the FGE car. I have three of the BN's, and a FGE solid cold. They are beautiful cars. Some of the nicest cars Athearn has done so far. Bill
