It seems kind of slow today so here is one of my old Westside FEF-3 models that I painted about twenty years ago. If the exhause seems small, that is it simulates the air pump exhaust pumping up the air presure. larry

Cool shot! Would be neat to see more photos of her pulling varnish or a fast freight. I remember Westside's beautiful model steamers back in the day. Going to the hobby shop to pick up a Westside brass steamer was like going to an auto dealership and buying a new Jaguar or Benz, with other customers looking on and uttering their "Oohs!" and Aahs!"
A friend of mine tweaked and fine tuned his beautiful 1977 Westside SP GS-4 Daylight steamer and installed DCC/Sound in it. I'm going to bug him about making a video for YouTube.

Antonio The Westsides at that time were a big deal and very nice for the low prices compared to brass today. I will have to take some more pictures of this one but here is a close up side view. This one has the markers, number board and headlight lit along with full cab detail that I added. Larry

A very nice head-on shot, Larry.
That side view shows it's a much nicer than the old Rivarrossi I had back in the late 70's.

That first picture has kind of a eery look of a train emerging from a fog. Looking off to the right one can imagine the shadow of its passenger cars off in the distance. I wish I had the skills to take that picture and play with it.

Beautiful paint on that. Do you remember what you used? I always use the orginal Scalecoat paint. Thanks. Larry The old Sunset 4-12-2 was done with Scalecoat # 1. More Scalecoat on this one also.

It was like a fog and the water tank was in the picture. Larry

Okay, here's an NS C30-7 that used to be one of the "Red Barons", or director's train engines. And yes, it's supposed to have black paint peeling off, showing the red underneath:

Terry, forgive my ignorance, but what's the story of the "Red Barons"?

Terry, forgive my ignorance, but what's the story of the "Red Barons"? They were a small group of freight locomotives, painted to match the passenger cars in the "executive fleet". Basically Tuscan Red. They were kept relatively clean and close to home, and (usually) scrubbed down to be placed on director's specials around the N&W. When not used as "passenger" locomotives, they were in the freight pool. I have one other, #8077, still in N&W red, the 8076, which is an NS repainted director's engine, and 6175, the only SD40-2 painted red.

Hey Larry, Very nice selection of steam! Especially the UP #9000! Donnell Donnell From what I know about your preference, I think you will like the next two or so pictures sharing some more of my Union Pacific models. I hope you enjoy the pictures. More to come later of other great Union Pacific models. Larry This is a Samhongsa model for the last Key 4-12-2. Sort of detailed beyond most models. One of the last models by Challenger Imports by Samhongsa

Terry, thanks for the pic links. FYI, for some reason the Flicr link didn't work, but the other 3 were fine. Larry, those are some nice closeups of your steamers.
