What engine did the little 70 toners use? I am thinking of getting one and want to try and add sound if Soundtraxx makes the correct 750 decoder.

They used Cooper Bessemer diesel engines in the 70 tonners.

We had 2 of these on Dakota Southern Rwy, though we only ran one. They were a hoot to operate, but, the style controls really kept you on your toes, if you were used to EMD's. Basically they sound like mini u boats.
