New Athearn stuff up on their site--so far, only engines. The Conrail GP's look kinda neat, but my knowledge of conrail is limited to the canopener. Also Santa Fe F's and CSX GP15-1's. And B&O and C&EI and CNW GP's, too. Wow, those Genesis workers are going to be awful busy. Hey, where's my SP&S GP's? ?? Ed

Ed I would hope Athearn can get more than one factory to build their future products. The Genesis models are nice and most will be welcomed ASAP, but what is the time frame for all of these announcements? Larry

Larry According to Athearn the new stuff is expected in late November and December. Athearn's current track record would realistically mean the new stuff won't arrive until mid-2013 or maybe even later.

Hey, where's my SP&S GP's? ?? Ed Probably sitting with the SP&S broadband F3 and F7's and the rest of the "Hill Lines" F's. Athearn has only given the GN F's a once over in 2002 and 2006 both with just generic detail. The NP F9's are old and generic same for the Q's F's. Athearn did a special run of SP&S F3's for a dealer in the as delivered scheme in 2004 with standard Highliner detailing.

Well, all Genesis announcements - the real news will be when Athearn throws up RTR announcements.
My way of looking at meeting the projected deadline is, thats fine, if the D&RGW GP9 projected for late October don't hit the shores until months later, thats more time for me to save up my pennies.

Looking at the Athearn website it seems that most DCC & sound equipped locomotives are sold out, while the same plain DC units are still in stock (CSX GP15Ts in YN2 and NYC GP9s with torpedo tubes). Does anybody know which is the typical percentage of "DCC sound" and DC made for each road number ? Ciao. Raffaele Galiano

Raffaele Galiano That would be interesting to know but that information would probably be only available from Athearn and each order probably changes to a certain percentage depending on the reservations. A few years ago when they were using MRC sound, the DC versions probably would have been much higher in percentage compared to recent years with Soundtraxx. It seems many of us now want the sound and DCC installed instead of doing it the old fashion way, installing the sound ourselves. Larry
