Anyone know where I can get a sound decoder for a GG1? it doesn't have to be a drop in but if you know of anything that will work that would be cool.
I have looked online but all I've found is Dallee Electronics and theres no order form, that and i don't know if they are NMRA compliant..

In HO, you can get a QSI decoder loaded with GG1 sounds.

well i looked at both ESU and QSI but i have not found anything with a GG1 sound file... its kind of depressing. Most famous locomotive around and hours of footage on it, and yet no manufacture besides MRC for a Kato GG1 has sound files..
maybe i will have throw that in there....

well i looked at both ESU and QSI but i have not found anything with a GG1 sound file... The QSI has one called something like "master electric." It covers lots of heavy electrics and you have to select the CV's that apply to the GG1. The PDF of the instructions doesn't seem to give hints as to the choices for any specific electric. I've never seen nor heard a GG1 in operation and would be clueless how to proceed with those choices.

ESU has a sound file for the GG1 - it's in the 3.5 section. These 3.5 files can be imported in a 4.0 decoder no problem. I'd suggest the 4.0 Micro as it's the smallest of any sound decoder out there.

Yea I still wish I could find one with the sounds pre-loaded so I don't have to spend $150, on a decoder when I only paid $65... I would pay 75-100 but 150 is a excessive... not to mention it sounds like I'd have to buy a bunch of decoder programmers and I'm not willing to do that yet, I mean I have a PS4 and a MTH Big Boy on pre-order.. that's already a 1000 thats spoken for lol

Also, is it an IHC or an IHC Premier? There were two versions.
The regular IHC which is made by Rivarossi, has one single motor driving a bunch of gears.
The IHC Premier was made by Mehano. It has two motors, each driving its own truck.
I'm not sure if the single motor version will blow any decoders as it's an older motor and older design.
The one with the two motors draws close to 1 amp together at stall, so most decoders will be able to handle it.
