Has anyone heard a rumor that the Atlas track supplier in China was sold and there maybe a disruption in Atlas track to the US?

It's a temporary thing. There are issues with the manufacturers over there, but the companies (Atlas, Athearn, etc) are working on solutions. Most items should be back in force within months, and there may be some thins which the consumer may never even notice a disruption.

I heard that Atlas had to change suppliers and for the time being their track may be in short supply in some places. My LHS has lots of Atlas track, so I don;t think this is a big issue. One thing is for sure, the price has gone up. I wonder at what point manufacturing of track might return to the US.

Maybe we can get lucky, and the current code 83 mold gets broken, and a new one cut to reflect more accurate track detail... oooh, that was bad...

I did have a buddy of mine tell me yesterday, that he had been having trouble finding track AND cork roadbed!! He did get his roadbed, but he said he had to order it from Midwest, direct. Sorry to be a little OT, but the two are interrelated. I still use Atlas Code 100, but as I scenic the track, I paint the rail sides and ties, which helps hide some of the lack of tie plate and spike detail.

Much of my layout is Atlas Code 100 track. You are right, once it is ballasted and the rails & ties are painted, the track looks pretty good.

Atlas is advertising in several publications that their track is back in production and will be available soon.

I still run Atlas code 80 N scale, but if they would ever offer the same dimensions in code 55, I would be tempted to change.
