I picked up a pack of code 100 tie plates from The Whistle Stop in Pasadena, CA a few months back with the intention of handlaying a short length of track to display my On3 MM K-27 and custom detailed and painted short caboose from San Juan.
I have yet to lay the track, but I wanted to ask if anyone has used these tie plates before? If so, do you have any pictures or insight to share?

Donnell The Original Whistle Stop in Pasadena, CA? Used to spend a fair amount of money there when I still lived in California (Glendora, then Ontario) at their previous location and the current location.

I went to The LHS on Friday and picked up six lengths of 5/32" square by 24" Basswood to make ties for my On3 display track. Each length yields 14 ties for a total of 84 ties, but my display will only require 72 ties. I will need to purchase another package of tie plates because the pack I have only has enough for 50 ties.
As for spikes, I haven't decided if I'm going to use Micro Engineering micro spikes, or Proto87 Stores O-scale spikes.

Yesterday, I picked up some Walthers code 70/83 spikes from the LHS, so I am one step closer to having everything ready to lay track. Well actually, I have some code 83 rail, so technicality I have everything, but I was going to use code 100, which would have represented a bit heavier rail, however, code 83 may suffice.

Sounds like yu have an interesting project, going, Donnell. You'll have to show us some "in-progress" pics when you start laying ties/rail.

Hello Mike,
I didn't plan on blogging, but I suppose this essentially is what I'm doing in this thread. I will take some photos when I get started; the problem is I'm not sure when that'll be...
