I received a sales ad from Horizon today listing the UP Veranda Turbines for half off price. $85 without tender and $120 with the tender. This is a blow out!
They have them listed for half off direct at Horizon so they are doing direct sale items. I hope the dealers get back money for any stock they have on their shelves or they will be stuck with the stock.

I have #71, it's pretty neat once I added a QSI board in it. Paid ~$125 some 6 months ago at Trainworld for the with tender model.

I ordered one from FDT for the same price. I would guess maybe they were either overproduced or overpriced to begin with. Even though it's not my railroad or era, I decided to get one. I'll probably put a sound board in it, though I could most likely get away with a loop of a jet engine on a tape recorder for the same effect.

They are very cool but even at half price the are far to "off topic" for my RR, which is all in boxes now anyway. As always things like this come up when money is pouring out for a new car battery, root canal, moving expense and all that. What limited cash for the hobby is focusing on getting caught up on D&RGW and SP stuff I still need.

While I have no interest in a U P Turbine I still find that locomotive to be rather interesting.A good deal for modelers of the Union Pacific.

I believe they must have done something like a deal to some of the dealers since FDT has them for that price also. I purchased both the standard and Veranda Turbines when they came out so I just wanted to make sure anyone that did not get them would save some money. Larry

I see that they are showing up on various on line sites as Trainworld for the same price. At those prices it costs more for the upgrade kit and sound decoder than for the loco itself.

Almost worth it at that price. One of the last blowouts due to inventory sitting around. I bet most new engines will be made in very limited amounts.
