Has anyone swapped out the Rapido couplers on Bachmann Old timer Cars for knuckles? I have about 36 pairs of Bachmann E-Z Mate II couplers I would like to use any suggestions?

Body mount or truck mount? I don't think the easy mates are compatible with the rapido coupler mounts. If you have the coupler boxes body mounting is not that difficult.

Catt,
The cars are body mounted couplers. John

If the rapidos are body mount it may be as simple as removing the rapido and replacing it with the E-Z Mate coupler. If memory serves me right they would both be of the wisker spring varieity. Your best move IMHO would be to remove one of the rapido's and compare the mounting.

actually the rapidos on those cars are more or less the T shank variety with a spring that is compressed behind it in the box, i am not a fan of MTL couplers but due to the fact they have a T shank coupler, you can use those, also with modification Kato Unimates will work too... www.micro-trains.com/ConversionsN.php looks like the 1131, 1133, or 1134 would work best.
