I'm suddenly feeling wary about this model. Me too. If these are test shots, and they have already cut metal, this may be what we are getting. The cab is off...

Well if it is not up to snuff, there probably will be no other to compete for a long time. Options? Get it but take glasses off under 6 ft. viewing distance?

I guess I didn't realise there were so many poorly done cabs out there. I know the Atlas roof is off. Looking at the Bowser cab online, it looks to be proportioned OK to me, though the tooling is obviously dated. What about the Proto cab? It looks "right" to me, at least when it's sitting next to an Atlas cab. What's wrong with the Hi-tech cab? It would be cool to do an overlay of the GE cabs out there like someone has done with the Alco cab. The problem with the Hi-Tech cab and <<some>> of the Atlas GE cabs are the two bends on the roof. I was not commenting on the area above the side window. Look at the width of the sort-of flat area / center cab roof section. On many cabs, including the Hi-Tech, that center section is too wide, meaning the sloped portion above were the crew memebers sit, is too short and steep. The two angles on the roof should be more in line the the sides of the hood, not outboard of the sides. On the Atlas "thick" cab, you can sand the rood to the right profile. On the Hi-Tech "thin" cab, there isn't enough material to sand off, before sanding through. I am not positive, but I believe that the Atlas Bxx-7 cab finally has the right profile and the earlier one's don't, or vice versa, double check. Somewhere out there, I believe that Liz Allen posted dimensions of what these were supposed to be. Of course, we have other hosed up GE issues as well, like the too large or too small headlight housing on a bunch of the model cabs, the flat-ish nose profiles on the Atlas Bxx-7 nose, the -7 hood door latches that stand out from the sides, etc.

If Rivarossi is going to release a loco, how about an update Krauss Moffei?

Have no fear, I have it on good authority the cab problems are a known issue and attention will be paid to them.

Have no fear, I have it on good authority the cab problems are a known issue and attention will be paid to them. Thanks for the moral boost. Perhaps in this era of short tempers, flash mob response to inaccurate information at the speed of NSA surveylence, manufactures could allay consumer fears quicker by direct response in a more timely manner. There are many who do, but a lot of them don't or seem to want to ignore "reviews."

Me, I try to get a hold of contacts, or friends of contacts who can try to make it right. Except for the C430 where I got fooled by curved track in Bowsers ad pictures.

That space is there, but seems to be hidden by the rain gutter strip above the windows on the test shots. The space still might not be tall enough though. Dave Have no fear, I have it on good authority the cab problems are a known issue and attention will be paid to them. Yeah that thick drip edge. Looking at the OLD Rivarossi cab again the height above the cab side windows may not be off much. Although the height on the new cab with that exact same looking thick drip edge with the same rounded down at the ends (that doesn't match the prototype picture that is posted) does look a little less than the old cab. Its good to hear that Hornsby is looking at that.
